July Highlights |

|
July is finally over and we are still moving strong towards that big goal of getting home. We have been turning stuff in and packing up, but the missions keep coming and they have been keeping us busy. We had 1st and 3rd squads at JSS Istiqlaal adding a TOC and dining facility to the growing camp. Without a doubt the quality of work we did out there made that place something to take a double look at. While SSG Hensley took half of his squad to make JSS Beladiat a safer place, by rewiring the living areas and their operations center. They took the JSS off the Iraqi power grid and moved it to generators. Then immediately after completion he moved them to JSS Shield to do an electrical hook up there. The few Soldiers that were left back at Camp Liberty didn’t have it easy either. They were constantly on the go from changing out air conditioning units throughout the Battalion area, fixing broken pipes, and wiring up maintenance tents. Also I had a few of the Soldiers jump on a convoy going out to the International Zone to do some A/C installations and repairs. Yes it has been a month of a lot of hard work, but it didn’t go unnoticed. All 15 of the Soldiers at JSS Istaqaal were awarded certificates of achievement for their outstanding work. On a different note we have to say goodbye and thank you to 2LT Jackson. He has left the Platoon and moved to Alpha Company to take over one of their Platoons.
